AVGSL's main goal is to insure that the players are in a fun, positive environment while learning and expanding their softball skills. AVGSL promotes a sense of belonging for everyone. We emphasize teamwork and the sense of individual success that contribute to team sports. No player will sit out more than 2 innings during a game, thereby providing a player to make contributions to their team and participate in a large part of all activities.

The Almaden Lightning is comprised of the very best players from the Almaden Valley Girls Softball League. The players and coaches are committed to excellence in softball and sportsmanship.

AVGSL had a large number of girls in the 12U Division that had the skills and desire to play summer ball. As a result, AVGSL assembled a 2nd 12UC Team. This team was a hybrid team, assembled using players from AVGSL and the Quicksilver organization. The team had very little practice before their first tournament, however they were still very competative. This team faced adversity suffering a number of injuries during the season, but managed to come together as a strong team. They had superb pitching and batting. They even had a couple of girls hit homeruns.
